Fri 30th - 1st Nov 2020
Our Autumn seasonal celebration at our beloved home-in-the-forest, Ragmans Lane Farm.
Join us for a weekend of community, joy & reflection as we celebrate life through embodied practices and restorative massage. This is a seasonal retreat to breathe the life back in, deeply embedded in the natural world and it's ability to re-remind us how free & curious we innately are.
'There is subtle movement underlying all else. It is what moves you when you are still and what you hear when there is silence."
Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen
You're free to participate as you wish. The days move between creative yoga practices which drop you into the innate wisdom of your own body, restorative massage, time exploring nature, ceremony, epic feasts, and fire circles inside and out. Expect the Ragmans hot tub to be bubbling away ready to ease aching muscles after hikes to the enchanting Puzzlewood nearby. Time for sifting through the pages of your book by roaring fire, meeting the dawn with meditation.
A retreat with Elena will offer you chances to re-kindle creativity and strength in your body, with movement practices, mantra and proprioception work that guide you into questioning and feeling. Steve cultivates space for the softer and stronger voices to feel equally held and included, his studies in holistic bodywork and shamanism span over a decade, so you know you're in safe hands there! Together they offer a place where joy and playfulness are paramount, so expect games or sacred song to often a book-end a day of activities.
Mornings we'll explore awakening Vinyasa and meditation practices to re-connect us with our spirit and sense of purpose, much inspired by Elena's studies in Vedic Philosophy. The evenings simmer with dedicated restorative practices & sound healing to reset your nervous system. Snore blissfully away.
You'll receive a 30 minute tailored massage treatment with Steve, rooted in the traditions of Ayurveda and holistic bodywork and inspired by over a decade's work of knowledge, helping you to unwind, restore muscle tone & re-balance your nervous system during the weekend.
We'll share 3 delicious vegetarian meals each day in the beautiful open Ragman's kitchen - organic and locally sourced by Little Bristol Kitchen - and stacked high with treats to fuel you for the day's activities. We are advocates of eating big.
Please come as you are.
Home for this weekend is the magical Ragmans Farm. Our beloved playground full of winding streams, swelling rhubarb beds and sunrise mist. Hidden deep in the heart of the Forest of Dean in the Wye Valley, Ragmans is a 60 acre organic farm where permaculture and organic farming practices are the guiding principles to regenerate the land. Nestled in an area of outstanding beauty, a stones throw from the river Wye which we'll wind down to during our Saturday hike. Expect rustic and earthy accommodation, making new friends as you co-habit the dorm and swap wellies.

Notes on Yoga: PHILOSOPHY
Bi-monthly starting Mon 6th July, 8.15 - 9.15pm
What is yoga? What history gave birth to the modern postural yoga we have come to know? How might understanding Chakras inform our practice? Why might the Bhagavad Gita still teach us today? So many Qs..
Join me for a facilitated conversation exploring key themes & diving into the meaningful modern interpretation of philosophical ideals coming from these, and many other, inspiring texts. An open conversation on how we can live yoga beyond asana.
This is a place to bring your burning questions and share about your experiences and thoughts in practice and life! We want this to be accessible to all - whether you are totally new to the practices or a more seasoned explorer so please feel v welcome to join and bring curious friends?

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage Level 1, 2 & 3 Training
I'm thrilled to be supporting this training in Feb 2020.
Learn how to give a deeply restorative 90 minute floor based massage
with confidence, using both hands and feet (no need for a massage table) and receive the AYM Institute Diploma recognised by Yoga Alliance Professionals and the CTha UK.
AYM combines deep tissue massage with coordinated breath-work and yoga stretching. Similar to Thai massage, Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is performed on a mat allowing for a full range of stretching. In addition; the deep tissue massage dissolves physical tension, while the assisted stretches and breath exercises realign the body and stimulate the natural flow of energy. Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is a perfect complementary practice for yoga teachers, personal trainers, health and wellness professionals and anyone interested in bodywork.
AYM was created by Master Kusum Modak. Kusum studied traditional Ayurvedic bodywork and worked with BKS Iyengar. She combined his approach to the asana with her own knowledge to create AYM as it is known today. It's a deeply therapeutic modality, well known for restoring balance.
The course is suited for everyone with an open mind and a genuine interest in massage. Beginners and professionals are all welcome.

YOGA FOR YOUNG PEOPLE.
I've facilitated in a community & school setting for nearly a decade now, it's one of my greatest joys & challenges to work with young people. Imagine the benefit of yoga amidst the stresses of modern exam time? I often think how good it is mainstream schools are welcoming in teachers to introduce these practices to help support the optimal wellbeing & health of their students. But that's a further conversation perhaps.
I work with groups from ages 7-25, and tailor workshops specifically for the individuals involved; like school years 8-10 at Walworth Academy & QEH School or Freedom of Mind Festival's public audience.
There's no mould, but I work with curriculum - based class structures//incentives, like:
Introduction to Yoga Postures,
Breathing Exercises for Better Mental Health,
Beginning a Meditation Practice.
Get in touch by email if you'd like to bring a project like this to the young people you know?
