Following on from the delight of EMBERS in October, we're thrilled to welcome you to LIGHT, at our beloved home-in-the-forest, Ragmans Lane Farm.
Join us for a weekend of community, joy & reflection as we shed the darker months, and move into the promise of Spring. This is a seasonal retreat to breathe the life back in, deeply embedded in nature and it's ability to re-remind us how free & curious we innately are.
You're free to participate as you wish. The days move between creative yoga practices, restorative massage, time exploring nature, ceremony, epic feasts, and fire circles inside and out. Expect the Ragmans hot tub to be bubbling away ready to ease aching muscles after an (optional!) trip to the enchanting Puzzlewood nearby.
Elena will offer you chances to re-kindle creativity and strength in your body with movement practices, mantra and proprioception work. Mornings we'll explore awakening vinyasa practices and deep meditation to re-connect us with our spirit and sense of purpose, much inspired by Vedic Philosophy. The evenings simmer with restorative practices & sound healing. Snore away.
You'll receive a 30 minute tailored massage treatment with Steve, rooted in the traditions of Ayurveda and holistic bodywork and inspired by over a decade's work of knowledge, helping you to unwind, restore muscle tone & re-balance your nervous system during the weekend.
We'll share 3 delicious vegetarian meals each day in the beautiful open Ragman's kitchen - organic and locally sourced - and stacked high with treats to fuel you for the day's activities. We are advocates of eating big.
An invigorating muddy hike following the path of the river Wye will allow you to explore the wild abundance around, and there'll always be a fire burning - either inside in the living room or outside in the fire pit (or both!).

Home for this weekend is the magical Ragmans Farm. Our beloved playground full of winding streams, swelling rhubarb beds and sunrise mist. Hidden deep in the heart of the Forest of Dean in the Wye Valley, Ragmans is a 60 acre organic farm where permaculture and organic farming practices are the guiding principles to regenerate the land. Nestled in an area of outstanding beauty, a stones throw from the river Wye which we'll wind down to during our Saturday hike.

AYURVEDIC YOGA MASSAGE & PARTNER YOGA

Techniques for building a more connected and fun healing space through the mediums of yoga asana & massage. We’ll guide you through practices to add to your therapeutic toolbox in a deeply relaxing and playful afternoon open to all experience levels.
Come solo or bring a friend or partner, there’ll be opportunities for you to partner up with whoever you feel comfortable with. We have space for everyone.
We’ll begin with some partner yoga, playing with traction and leverage, and the kinaesthetic awareness that comes from making contact with another person in asana, to open to greater depths in the body and mind. Different balances, proprioception practices and twists will offer you a chance to build trust and work out what gives you lightbulb moments and what doesn’t.
On a greater emotional/philosophical level, we’ll also explore how to balance our incoming and outgoing energy - essentially how to peacefully communicate our own needs and hear those of others. A key component of practicing non-violence or Ahimsa.
Then the massage! The partner work will lead into learning the Ayurvedic Yoga Massage head, neck and shoulders sequence of the full body treatment. Perfect for if you’re an existing therapist or a complete newbie to it all. AYM combines deep tissue massage with coordinated breathwork and yoga stretching, performed on a mat on the floor for free movement and flow. Deep tissue massage helps to remove adhesions in the muscles and soft tissues, releases tension and prepares the body of the receiver for assisted yoga stretching. You’ll also learn to apply the topical ayurvedic oil used that acts a blood detoxifier and nerve tonic in the practice.
There’ll be opportunities to discuss the history of these healing modalities, learn how to adjust mindfully and deepen your partner-assisting skills too. We’ll close with chats & tea.

I'm hosting an uplifting full spectrum practice of mantra, song, asana, mudra & storytelling on the eve of Solstice; celebrating the fullness of the Summer sun! On the eve of its highest point in the sky, we'll move through a playful, flowing practice laced with the beloved stories of Yogic & Hindu philosophy. Ones that shine the light of insight & metaphor on our modern lives, the juicy ones of Lord Hanuman, abundant Lakshmi &fearsome Virabhadra. Expect a soulful and fun evening practice open to all levels of yoga experience.
There will be chocolate. :)

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage Level 1, 2 & 3 Training

Learn how to give a deeply restorative 90 minute floor based massage
with confidence, using both hands and feet (no need for a massage table) and receive the AYM Institute Diploma recognised by Yoga Alliance Professionals and the CTha UK.
AYM combines deep tissue massage with coordinated breath-work and yoga stretching. Similar to Thai massage, Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is performed on a mat allowing for a full range of stretching. In addition; the deep tissue massage dissolves physical tension, while the assisted stretches and breath exercises realign the body and stimulate the natural flow of energy. Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is a perfect complementary practice for yoga teachers, personal trainers, health and wellness professionals and anyone interested in bodywork.
AYM was created by Master Kusum Modak. Kusum studied traditional Ayurvedic bodywork and worked with BKS Iyengar. She combined his approach to the asana with her own knowledge to create AYM as it is known today. It's a deeply therapeutic modality, well known for restoring balance.
The course is suited for everyone with an open mind and a genuine interest in massage. Beginners and professionals are all welcome.
DIPLOMA & PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATION:
The AYM Institute diploma, certification and teachers are all recognised by the Complimentary Therapists Association CThA, the principal governing body that regulates therapists. The CThA has the most exacting standards for recognition of both curriculum and instructors in the UK. .
Hosted at Wild Wolf's Yoga Bristol the AYM Institute diploma is divided over 3 weekend intensives with an hour for lunch.
On completion of all 3 levels, students qualify for the recognised AYM Institute practitoner diploma.

YOGA FOR YOUNG PEOPLE.
I've facilitated in a community & school setting for nearly a decade now, it's one of my greatest joys & challenges to work with young people. Imagine the benefit of yoga amidst the stresses of modern exam time? I often think how good it is mainstream schools are welcoming in teachers to introduce these practices to help support the optimal wellbeing & health of their students. But that's a further conversation perhaps.
I work with groups from ages 7-25, and tailor workshops specifically for the individuals involved; like school years 8-10 at Walworth Academy & QEH School or Freedom of Mind Festival's public audience.
There's no mould, but I work with curriculum - based class structures//incentives, like:
